Final Year Project

Project Title

Integrated Li-ion Battery and Capacitor Bank for Effective Motor Control

Description

Problem Statement: In many hybrid configurations batteries continue to be the weakest component because they have a shorter lifespan than the vehicle. Large power demands in particular have a detrimental effect to a battery pack’s lifespan. This project aims to implement a system in which DC motor is started by using parallel combination of Ultracapacitor-bank and battery, in which the capacitor bank will deliver energy during high power demand periods, which typically are during starting. Detail: This project aims to reduce the stress on the battery pack in electric vehicles by adding an ultra-capacitor bank in parallel with the battery pack increasing its lifespan and efficiency. This project will entail a Battery Management System (BMS) for batteries as well as for ultra-capacitors and a converter designed for system. (Group Project)
